Public Outreach Events, continued:
Cold Spring Farm, Colchester, August 24
By Donna Pursley
We set up on a different field than last time. The grass was pretty high. Lots of members showed up with their scopes. The first one on the field was a man with his child Alex. Alex was very interested in astronomy and had found many Messier objects this year without much help. The father was the driver for Alex.
There were about 40 people that looked through the scopes. The skies were surprising good even though they looked hazy. I had one of those nights where I was lucky enough to find everything that I looked for. Saturn came up and everyone was very impressed. The rings seemed like a thin line at the middle of the planet. The dew took over and we called it a night.
